We chose it because: it’s Bologna’s historic fair trade shop and is fully devoted to the fostering of critical and aware consumption.

ExAequo is the “World’s shop” of Bologna, established in February, 1993, and it promotes fair trade both as a shop and as organizer of awareness raising events. Other than being active in fair trade and in solidarity-based finance, ExAequo organizes information events and educational training programs in schools, it promotes and engages in social awareness campaigns, it carries out catering service. ExAequo is member of CTM-Altromercato, the main Fair Trade organization in Italy, and of Equo Garantito, the trade association of Italian fair trade organizations. In the branch in via Altabella, at a stone’s throw from piazza Maggiore, you can find arts and crafts and food from several countries (India, Thailand, Vietnam, Ecuador, Madagascar, to name a few) produced by small cooperatives that often employ women or underprivileged people. The shop is the right place to choose with awareness and attentiveness, to explore the world and solidarity, to choose party favors and announcements for ceremonies and merrymaking, to wedding registries or Christmas presents…
